National Sporting Museum Flyer Reimagined

I recently applied for a graphic design position at the National Sporting Museum and Library – one of my dream employers. Unfortunately, as the job search has gone for many in our area lately, I didn’t receive a response.

In order to further hone my skills, particularly with Adobe Express, I've been experimenting with redesigning social media posts, flyers for local businesses and book covers. This is purely a creative exercise, a way for me to explore different design approaches and improve my proficiency. These redesigns are intended as practice and are not meant to critique or diminish the original work.

As a perfectionist, my biggest challenge in these exercises is time management. I've set a personal goal to complete social media posts and digital flyers within an hour. I believe this is a realistic timeframe for online content of this variety. Adobe Express is proving invaluable, enabling me to quickly generate color palettes and brand styles, and efficiently apply them across various designs.

For this website flyer redesign, I prioritized brand consistency and cohesion. Using the logo from their website (the only size I could find), I created a unified color palette in Adobe Color and applied consistent fonts. My goal was to achieve a refined and sophisticated aesthetic that would resonate with their subscribers and potential visitors. The new flyer is also resized to follow Instagram’s new portrait style grid and size guidelines allowing it to be repurposed on multiple platforms.

This content was originally used across their website, event calendar, and social media accounts. While Instagram prioritizes visual and video content, text-based event and exhibition information is essential for a business like this. When designed effectively, these posts can be repurposed across platforms without detracting from the overall social media aesthetic. However, it's crucial that a museum and library serving a sophisticated Middleburg, VA audience maintains a seamless and refined online presence, reflecting the curated experience of their physical spaces.
