PWC Library Science Club Flyer
I decided to tackle this science club flyer I spotted at the library today. It was a nice change of pace from that information overload of the stuffed animal sleepover flyer I did last week! Seriously, way less info to juggle, which made things a lot easier. Plus, I could just stick with the footer format I'd already set up, which saved me a bunch of time. It's funny how much smoother things go when you're not reinventing the wheel.
It really hit me again today how important it is to get your fonts and layout established early on. Once you've figured out the look you're going for, especially in a series or brand, everything just flows. When you have a good template you can focus on the fun parts, like making sure the science club flyer actually looks interesting and exciting for kids, instead of stressing about the basics. It's a good feeling when you can just relax and let the design come together.
Before
The original flyer wasn't inherently flawed, and I understand the intended vibe. However, the color choices lacked impact and failed to create an engaging or eye-catching design.
In my version, I really wanted to bring some brightness and playfulness to the flyer. Keeping the original footer meant I could skip the technical details and jump straight into the fun part – the graphics. The limited text made it easy to work with, so I could really focus on making it visually engaging.
After
I'm really happy with how the redesign turned out. It definitely fits the Prince William County Public Library System's brand and is a lot more vibrant and eye-catching. Below I've placed it next to the Stuffed Animal Sleepover flyer from last week, so you can see how that even though the subjects are very different the branding stays consistent!
